RIO RANCHO, N.M. - The Rio Rancho Rams hope to be in the conversation when it comes to a state championship.

They are coming off an impressive 9-3 season.

The Rams are returning eight starters, four on offense, four on defense.

Head coach David Howes says the team has a few areas they need to clean up if they want to be back in the playoff picture.

“This year, it's about discipline and I think we were a little undisciplined last year. And we're going to focus on our discipline and our 3-step process and that is what we do for every single pre-snap,” Howes said.

Rio Rancho opens up the season against Centennial on August 25.
