State Swim Competitors To Watch This Weekend

With the state swimming and diving championships slated for this weekend, here’s a look at some of the athletes to watch.

Boys:

Jack Hoagland, La Cueva (200 free/500 free)… he was the state runner-up in both those events last year.

Josh Harlan, Cibola (200 IM)… the defending champ in this event and one of the favorites to win again.

Keelan Hart, Cibola (100 freestyle)

Ben Waterman, Eldorado (100 butterly)… he won this same event in 2017

Pierce Holler, Albuquerque (100 breast)… defending champ

Max Hawton, Sandia (50 freestyle/100 back stroke)… he finished second in the 50 free in 2017

Jake Hand, Albuquerque Academy

 

Girls:

Laruien Burckel, Eldorado (200 IM/100 breaststroke)… She won the 200 IM last year

Natalie Jones, La Cueva (50 freestyle)… the defending champ is arguably the fastest sprint swimmers in the state

Sara Vianco, Albuquerque Academy (100 freestyle).. the defending champ in this event

Ally Bernier, Albuquerque Academy

Fiona Trotz-Chavez, Sandia (100 butterfly/100 backstroke)… she took first in the 100 back last year
