ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Since the high school baseball season started, the Valley Vikings got off to a solid start.

Valley kicked their season with a win against the defending state champs La Cueva, and the team is 6-3 on the season.

This week has another big game on the horizon with Rio Grande scheduled for Thursday. It's a game the Vikings always have circled on their calendars.

"Coach Griego over at Rio Grande does a superb job, and such a rivalry game with us and emotions sometimes take over," Valley coach Chad Kuhn said. "And I think the team that's emotionally set for the win usually wins."
