ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-  West Mesa High School celebrated their state basketball championship Monday.

The girls basketball team beat Hobbs in the 5A championship.

In honor of the win, the Mustangs cut the nets down in their gym.

The girls said they were thankful for the support they received all season.

“Honestly, seeing the gym filled it brings back to the actual game, the intensity, the whole feeling of the community being here again,” said star player Maiah Rivas. “It's felt amazing, it doesn't feel real at all."

The girls had a little fun with their coach during the celebration.

They got to cut his beard. He agreed to shave it off after they won state.
