ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – As the number of New Mexicans who are searching for news in digital platforms increases, KOB-TV is meeting the demand by offering a new product.  The KOB 4 Investigates Team has released Season 1 of a newly launched podcast called, “KOB4: Our Backstory.”

“Our Backstory” allows KOB’s investigative journalists a long-format opportunity to dive deeper into stories, add longer interviews that add perspective and allow the journalists to explain the processes of newsgathering.

Long-time and award-winning Investigative Reporter Chris Ramirez and Digital Producer David Lynch co-host “Our Backstory.”

“When working on TV news stories, sometimes it’s hard to decide what to leave out since we have a finite amount of time,” Ramirez said.  “The bigger the story, the tougher those decisions are.  ‘Our Backstory’ has allowed us to tell stories without the limitation of time.”

“Our Backstory” includes some of the interviews, information and details that were cut on the TV news chopping block.  KOB’s goal with the show is to bring new ways of getting KOB news whenever audiences want it, whether on the road, on a jog or while walking the dog.

“As a millennial, I’ve grown up in an age where information and news is accessible to me 24 hours a day, seven days a week and in my pocket,” Lynch said.  “We hope this podcast attracts more consumers of information and brings them into the KOB brand, New Mexico’s leading source for in-depth news.”

Season 1 focuses on the wide-scope problem of clergy abuse in New Mexico.  Across six episodes the hosts discuss the legal fight and partnerships KOB made to unseal documents vital to KOB’s investigation, the sometimes grisly and horrifying details of what hundreds of kids endured, and how New Mexico fits into the global clergy abuse crisis.

The show is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, and Spotify. Make sure to subscribe as well as leave a rating and review so we can continue to improve Our Backstory, and, from wherever you’re listening from. Thank you in advance for tuning in.
