1 dead, officer injured after officer-involved shooting in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Las Cruces Police say an officer-involved shooting around 10:30 p.m. Friday left a 29-year-old man dead and an officer injured.

Police say officers were responding to a disturbance at a home Friday evening when one of the officers was injured by the suspect. A second officer fired at least one shot that hit the man, who died on scene.

The wounded officer will be placed on standard administrative leave, officials say, while a multi-agency task force investigates the incident.
