TAOS COUNTY, N.M. - The FBI has filed charges against all five suspects who were arrested after a raid on a compound in northern New Mexico.
The FBI said Jany Leveille, a Haitian national, was illegally in possession of firearms and ammunition. The four other adults, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, Hujrah Wahhaj, Subhanah Wahhaj and Lucas Morton are charged with aiding and abetting Leveille in committing the offense, and with conspiring with Leveille to commit the offense.
All five suspects were taken into federal custody Friday afternoon in Taos. They will make their initial appearances in federal court in Albuquerque on September 4, 2018.
Meanwhile, Taos district attorney dropped all charges against Sirah Wahhaj and Jany Leveille, with the intention of taking the case to a grand jury on September 27 and refiling the charges.
The pair was charged with child abuse resulting in death and conspiracy to commit child abuse resulting in death.
Wahhaj is also accused of abducting his son Abdul Ghani Wahhaj from Georgia.
The three other suspects had their state child abuse charges dropped Wednesday after a judge ruled the prosecution failed to hold a preliminary hearing within 10 days.
