AZTEC, N.M.- For 17 years, the Four Corners Equine Rescue in Aztec has seen it all.

The organization rehabilitates horses, mules and donkeys.

The goal rehab them physically and mentally, and get them adopted.

"Last year, we had about 30 horses that ended up being adopted, and this year, we’ve already taken in 24, so we are not adopting as many out this year as we did last year," said Terry Coburn, president of the Four Corners Equine Rescue.

The group operates without funding from the state, and relies on donations for food, vet care and other essentials.

They also rely on volunteers to care for the animals.

"We always need some place for them to go, so they can live out a little bit of their life and some kind of nice place with some grass, something that some of them never really had," Coburn said.
