ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Aztec High School marked the one year shooting anniversary Friday.

Students quietly came together to remember the two students who were killed.

“There are some that just couldn't make it and we've tried to be not just accommodating, but even reaffirming with those kids that it is okay," said Warman Hall, the school’s principal.

Attendance was less than 40 percent, which left many classrooms practically empty.

Those who did attend showed high hopes for the future ahead.

“What I think has been interesting is to watch the kids develop their voice, as they look at their tragedy, events from a year ago, now a year later in the lens of remembering our loss, advocating for the issues they feel strongly about,” Warman said.
