Investigators believe the boy went back into the water after his parents had exited and nobody noticed until he was pulled from the water. It’s believed the boy had been under water for up to 10 minutes.

The Chavez County Sheriff’s Department says the incident happened at a busy time when a lot of people were swimming in Lea Lake.

This was the second drowning at the state park in less than two months.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family here.
