Buzzard Fire nearly 50 percent contained

CATRON COUNTY, N.M. - The Buzzard Fire, burning in the Gila National Forest, is now 49 percent contained. It's already burned more than 34,000 acres.

Fire crews say Sunday's rain helped crews get a better handle on the fire. There are still 583 firefighters working to put out the fire.

The fire started on May 22. Forest service investigators say an an abandoned illegal campfire caused the fire.
