Sherry was born and raised in Carlsbad and remembers the times she would visit the Fiesta Drive In Theater with family and friends.

"We love to go see the movies there, have cheese fries and popcorn," Sherry said.

Sidney Light, the owner of Fiesta, made the announcement on November 29th.

Her father re-opened the theater in 1990 when it shut down under different ownership in 1970.

The theater closed down again in 2010 when her father died.

"So, two years later 2012, I re-opened to keep his legacy going, keep the drive in going, because I knew it was a huge thing in this town," Light Said.

Light has happy memories she made as a child at the drive-in, but now has other plans. She wants to focus on her family, and go back to school.

"Eventually, I want to be in a surgical room as a surgical tech with a doctor," Light Said.

The last showing at the theater is December 9th.
