ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A Carlsbad family is now homeless and left picking up the pieces after losing their home to a fire Saturday afternoon.

"This was like one of the last things-- one of the last things we thought would happen," said Justi Stange, a mother of four children.

The place they once called home burned down to the ground in a matter of minutes.

"Everything we worked so hard for is just gone," Stange said.

Stange said she was running errands when she got the devastating call. By the time she arrived, it was too late.

"The firefighters were here trying to put it out," she said.

Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it. Stange was still getting over the tragic loss of her children's father, Jayson.

"We did lose their dad two months ago, little over two months ago to a motorcycle accident," Stange said.

His memorial shirts were the only items left unscathed from the fire.

"They were still wrapped in the bag that they were in when I picked them up from the dry cleaners on Friday," Staneg said "They were untouched."

No one was injured.

Stange believes this just another bump in the road she and her family will overcome.

"We have the help of the community which is absolutely amazing."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
