SANTA FE, N.M .- A 3-month-old kitten is proving she may have nine-lives.

According to officials with Felines and Friends, a local nonprofit that helps cats get adopted, Midge was stolen from a Santa Fe Petco Monday.

The group’s executive director, Bobbi Heller, told KOB, “We started the immediate campaign on Facebook to try and get someone guilted into returning her.”

Heller said someone brought Midge back to the Petco 24-hours after she was stolen, but the kitten wasn't in good condition.

"Her eyes were dilated and she was very disoriented," Heller said.

Smith Veterinary Hospital believes Midge was suffering from some type of toxin, possibly drugs.

The hospital nursed Midge back to health and Petco picked up the tab.

Heller said Midge should be ready for adoption in the near future.
