TAOS COUNTY, N.M. - Charges have been upgraded for two people who were arrested after a raid on a compound in northern New Mexico.

Siraj Wahhaj and Jany Leveille are now charged with child abuse resulting in death and conspiracy to commit child abuse. Wahhaj, Leveille, and the three other adults arrested the compound are still charged with eleven counts of child abuse

Siraj Wahhaj is the father, accused of abducting his son Abdul Ghani Wahhaj from Georgia. His remains were found at the Taos County compound days after the raid.

Prosecutors believe Abdul-Ghani suffered from seizures, caused by a birth defect.

According to court documents, the adults believed Abdul-Ghani was possessed and would come back as Jesus after the last demon was exorcised.
