LOS ANGELES, CA- Chevel’s Shepherd’s family is anxiously waiting to find out if the New Mexico country singer is the winner of The Voice.

I'm really excited, my heart’s just beating fast,” said Chevel’s grandfather, Bob Shepherd.

Chevel’s sister said this journey has been emotional.

“I told her I was probably going to be crying all day and trying not to,” Kimberly Kahle said.

Despite her family’s nerves, Chevel has remained calm. She said she’s happy and excited.

“After tonight, I'm going to be like, ‘That just happened,’” Chevel said. “It was a long process but all of this happened too quick, you know, but I really savored every moment ."

Kahle isn't surprised Chevel is as calm ahead of the big announcement. She believes it was more than Chevel’s talent that helped her reach the finals.

“She's just such a natural, everything, she doesn't get nervous before she sings, just like she was born to be here, this was like the life that's chosen for her,” Kahle said.

Chevel’s father will be watching The Voice finale from Farmington.

He wanted to join the family, but stayed behind to take care of an ill family member.
