Man who shot at Cibola Co. deputies found dead inside house

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A tense standoff in Cibola County ended with the suspect being found dead.

The standoff started around 11 a.m., when deputies went to a house near Bluewater Lake State Park to serve a warrant.  As deputies approached the house, the person inside fired rounds at deputies.

Deputies returned fire. However, no one was hit.

Another gunshot was eventually heard, coming from inside the house. After hours of trying to make contact with the man, they entered the house and found him dead.

Authorities are working to notify next of kin. After they are notified, the suspect's name will be released to the public.
