ARTESIA, N.M.- The City of Artesia is still cutting off water to people who are at least two months behind paying their bill despite the COVID-19 outbreak.
"Our policy is to cut off people's utilities if they're two months behind, and this was the case today in terms of water utilities," said Aubrey Hobson, City Clerk Treasurer. "We do this twice a month. COVID-19 has been considered, but the mayor decided we are going to cut off for now, it may change."
The mayor said if there is a change in policy, it would need to be approved by the city council.
