Michelle Schneider, author of Plant Your Money Tree, said it’s important for people to study the stock market before investing.

The Santa Fe author also believes it is important for recent college grads to think about their future.

“You have a long life ahead of you,” Schneider said. “They're saying this next generation, Gen Z, there's a chance they can live to 150. Can you imagine supporting yourself for 150 years?"

Schneider admits that college loans are on the minds of many. However, she said staying current and saving $500 can help people start making little investments.
