FARMINGTON N.M.— Seeing a loved one nowadays is difficult, especially for folks in nursing homes. That's why residents at The Bridge assisted living nursing home were surprised to wake up to a community parade of excited family members Wednesday morning.
“Anything we can do to support our community, especially our elderly people right now, so I love it," said a parade participant.
Cars decorated with balloons, flowers and even pups flooded the parking lot.
“We want to make sure that they know that they are loved, and they are thought about on a daily,” said Carolina, executive director of The Bridge.
That sentiment that was proven to be true today when people were happy and thankful to see their loved ones again.
The Bridge nursing home also had another significant reason to celebrate.
“We are COVID-19 free. We don't have the virus in the building and that's one of the biggest things to celebrate today," Carolina said.
With nursing homes being hotspots for COVID-19, this was a reason to celebrate.
This parade of love was a success, even though people couldn't embrace their loved ones, it'll have to do in the meantime.
