ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Christmas tree lots in Albuquerque have been busy.

Kierstin Pacheco of Just Sprinklers says she's expecting to sell out of trees-- just like they did with pumpkins in the fall.

"We had everybody ready for Christmas trees before we even had an estimate of when they were getting here," she said.

Pacheco says more people appear to want a real tree this year.

"It's been a crazy year with COVID, and everyone stuck inside," she said. "I feel like everybody's ready for the holiday cheer, wants to be happy and ready for the start of the new year."

Adam and Kim's Christmas Trees in Santa Fe also reports a lot of first-time fresh Christmas tree buyers.

"Our truck arrived Saturday, and we've had a pretty impressive response," Adam Quinn said. "This being our 11th year of operations, we haven't seen the public come out quite as early as this."

For some extra COVID-safe holiday magic, they're offering something new.

"Online sales, and we have a lot of people doing curbside pickup delivering all over town," Quinn said.

If the rush for fresh cut trees continues, customers should expect slim pickings by mid-December.

"I would encourage people to come out early and avoid disappointment," Quinn said.
