Four Corners man charged with 7th DWI and child abuse

FARMINGTON, N.M. - A Farmington man has been charged with his seventh DWI and child abuse after police say he was driving drunk with his girlfriend and her two children in the car.


According to the Farmington Daily Times, 37-year-old Eric Trancosa is accused of drinking several cans of beer before driving to a carnival at McGee Park on May 19.

San Juan County Sheriff's Office says Trancosa admitted to drinking the beer and had two open beer cans next to the driver's seat.

Deputies say Trancosa performed poorly on field tests and then refused to take a breathalyzer test. He is expected in court this morning for a preliminary hearing.
