ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After an environmental group earlier this week called on the state attorney general to investigate spending habits by officials at the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities, a former executive director says she should have done things differently.

Andrea Romero, who used to lead the coalition, said she "demonstrated poor judgment" by asking to be reimbursed for alcohol and tickets to Major League Baseball games. Romero, a candidate for a state House seat, said she has since paid back around $2,000 in reimbursements.

Meanwhile, documents show a Santa Fe County commissioner approved those reimbursements in 2017. Emails from Commissioner Henry Roybal, who serves as the treasurer for the coalition, reveal he rarely questioned the requests for reimbursements.
