Former Marine from Clovis sentenced to 10 years in jail

CLOVIS, N.M. – A former U.S. Marine from Clovis was sentenced to 10 years in jail Tuesday after he pled no contest to charges of identity theft and property damage earlier this year.

26-year-old Daryn Merrill had allegedly "used stolen credit cards (and) damaged four ATM machines" in late 2016. He was also found to have committed larceny in February of 2016, which officials say enhanced his sentence.

Merrill has the opportunity to be released on probation after five years.
