Former Santa Fe County deputy facing manslaughter trial

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— A former Santa Fe County deputy is facing a third trial for the killing of a fellow deputy.

Las Cruces district attorney Mark D'Antonio is now seeking to try Tai Chan for voluntary manslaughter.

Chan was in Las Cruces in 2014 when he was initially accused of shooting Jeremy Martin.

Chan claimed self-defense.

He has already gone through two murder trials. Both have ended in hung juries.
