ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Fort Lewis College is teaming up with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to offer students the chance to win a franchise of their own.
"The Chocolate Factory is going to turn over a store to the class somewhere in the U.S. and the class will have full access to everything related to that store. All the books, you name it."
Starting in the fall semester of 2019, senior business students at Fort Lewis College will able to take an applied entrepreneurship class with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
Throughout the semester, the students will study the franchise and build a business plan. At the end of the class, the student with the best plan will be awarded the franchise.
The student who wins the franchise will have to relocate after graduation and pay 5 percent of their annual profit back to the business school for three years.
The program is modeled after a similar program Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has with Missouri Western State University.
Over the course of 11 years, the program has given around 20 franchises to students.
