SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. - The San Juan Regional Medical Center is making changes in hopes of increasing security measures at the hospital.

Starting Monday, Aug. 5, the main entrance to the building will be closed overnight from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Hospital officials say visitors after hours can enter through the Emergency Department.

“Eliminating access after-hours improves the security of our patients and staff and gives our patients time to focus on their sleep, which is extremely important to the healing process,” said Safety and Security Manager Vince Mitchell.

Hospital officials say the closure not only helps to secure the building, but also will help security officers improve response times to anything that happens overnight and allow staff to focus on patient needs.
