LAS VEGAS, N.M.- People in northern New Mexico spent Tuesday digging out of the snow.

The Las Vegas area received about six inches of snow in 24 hours.

People said the snow and ice causes problems on the road.

"The car started slipping, so we had to stop here at this hotel and stay the night," said Jordin Angulo.

Truck drivers flooded the Love's truck stop, off I-25, Monday night.

"The interstate is very bad," a truck driver said. "It's very bad."

The Department of Transportation said it plans on having plows out for as long as necessary to keep the roads as safe as possible.
