ABILENE, TX (KRBC) - Three years ago, Krisana Howell adopted a dachshund puppy which she named Scrappy. Unfortunately, a year later the dog was believed to be stolen from her New Mexico home.
However, Howell recently got a call from the Abilene Animal Shelter in Texas saying that Scrappy had been found! The shelter says that they were able to reunite the two because Scrappy has a microchip.
"The microchip is very powerful, especially when you keep it updated. It's most powerful when you move or change your phone number [and] you make sure you update the microchip," says Animal Services Director, Mirenda Walden.
Scrappy is now back in her forever home.
