SANTA FE, N.M. - A Santa Fe County Sheriff's deputy was arrested over the holiday weekend and charged with resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to a Santa Fe sports bar around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a fight between two men.

When officers arrived, they were approached by security and two men including Jose Lujan.

Police say Lujan showed signs of heavy intoxication and was stumbling around.  At one point, police say Lujan appeared to be "sizing up" one of the responding officers.

The interaction led officers to attempt to put handcuffs on Lujan due to his aggressive behavior, but police say he repeatedly pulled both of his arms away preventing officers from putting handcuffs on him.

According to the complaint, Lujan continuously yelled vulgar words at officers throughout the interaction.

He was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

Lujan is on paid administrative leave pending a full investigation.
