LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The City of Las Cruces is bracing for the potential of heavy rain throughout the day Thursday.


The Las Cruces Fire Department is making sandbags that will be available to homeowners at seven locations across the city. The sandbags can be placed around entrances and are intended to help keep water out of homes.

Every homeowner may take up to 10 sandbags. They will be available at the following locations:

  • Station #1: 201 E Picacho Ave.
  • Station #2: 1199 E. Foster Rd.
  • Station #3: 390 N. Valley Dr.
  • Station #4: 2802 E. Missouri Ave.
  • Station #5: 5998 Bataan Memorial E.
  • Station #6: 2750 Northrise Dr.
  • East Mesa Public Safety Complex: 550 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd.
