LAS CRUCES, N.M. - A Las Cruces man is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after police say he used a cane to hit another man over the head.

28-year-old Jorge Vigil-Garcia was arrested Tuesday.

Police say a man had confronted Vigil-Garcia and accused him of hitting a woman in the face. Police say the two men argued and that's when Vigil-Garcia grabbed a metal cane and hit the other man in the head and body.

The victim suffered several lacerations.
