LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Police say a man used a knife to threaten four members of his family, including a 12-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, on Easter Sunday.

The Las Cruces Police Department charged 22-year-old Rudy Lucero with two counts of intentional child abuse, one count of aggravated assault and another count of aggravated assault against a household member. Police say they found Lucero with a "large pocket knife."

According to LCPD Public Information Officer Dan Lucero, Lucero was in the living room with the four family members when he "allegedly became upset because they refused to invite him to the next family gathering."

At that point, Trujillo said Lucero pulled out the pocket knife and threatened his family. The relatives reportedly were afraid to call 911, but Lucero said the 17-year-old texted another relative for help.

Police arrested Lucero without incident.
