The next stop is Tularosa. Cory Hillyer, the store manager believes they have big things in store for New Mexicans.

"We'll be one of the first dispensaries to have a grow that features a large number of hemp for oils, fibers different for our emporium,” he said.

The owners anticipate the new site will be the largest hub of cannabis commerce in New Mexico. One of the goals is to produce medical cannabis for dispensaries in every county, from the far east to far west.

"We will have 80 acres of an outdoor medicinal grow and 20 acres of an indoor medicinal grow inside," Hillyer said.

Regulations for hemp growing were proposed by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and were approved just last month.

The owners plan to have the first few plants in the ground at the Tularosa site by January 2019
