SANTA FE, N.M. - A Santa Fe stepmother has pleaded not guilty to strangling and killing her 5-year-old stepson.

According to our partners at the Santa Fe New Mexican, Melynie Curtis put in the plea yesterday in court.

She is accused of killing her stepson Jayden before calling 911 to report that he was unconcious in the bathtub.

Prosecutors say her story was inconsistent.

As of right now, Curtis will remain behind bars until her trial.
