“Hearing my name called to be in the finale was crazy,” Chevel said. “I'm thankful for this opportunity to just sing and show my passion on stage to everyone and share the country music roots that I love to do. So, feel very blessed.”

Chevel's life is busy ahead of the finale. She still has school work to do in between practice sessions.

Chevel is trying to stay positive, knowing she's already made a lot of people proud.

“I don't think it really changes at all because all of us, no matter what happens, we're all winners because we all got the opportunity to stand on this stage and sing for America,” she said.

In addition to singing, Chevel said she's enjoyed having the opportunity to inspire others.

“I’ve received lots of positive feedback from people, not only in New Mexico, but people from across the United States," Chevel said. "It's really great to just know that I’m a positive role model and inspiration to people in America.

No matter the outcome, Chevel won't forget where she came from or those who supported her through the journey on The Voice.

“I just want to say thank you to New Mexico for all the support,” she said. “Thank you to my family and I love you guys so much.”
