ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Imagine having nearly a dozen food options under one roof—that's what Santa Fe residents can look forward to next month.

A new development will introduce a market-style cafeteria showcasing local vendors at the Luna building at 505 Cerillos Road. It's surrounded by hotels, the Roundhouse, and the everyday hustle and bustle of Santa Fe residents and its visitors.

From the sidewalk, the clouded windows remind passersby that portions of the Luna building are empty. While that's true now, developer Ken Joseph said the vacant space is full of potential.

“We're opening a food court and kind of high-end food purveyor,” Joseph said. “A place called 'Chomp.'”

The idea has been years in the works. The large, empty space will soon be home to a handful of local vendors, including New Mexico Hard Cider, which will operate a bigger space right outside.

“We're going to have events in here and have…well really, the whole concept of the development is to create more community,” Joseph said.

There will be a bar, distillery, and dozens of food kiosks. The space will even feature widow served food service.

Taken altogether, Joseph says Chomp will give residents something many have not experienced.

“There are some really great places in Albuquerque—Green Jeans is a good model. But this is more akin to some of the places that are springing up all over the country, and really just a fun atmosphere,” he said.

With reasonable prices and a little outdoor shopping, Joseph says this is something for everyone.

There are five vendors already on board; he said he hopes to have at least eight to 10 before a grand opening sometime in July.
