Federal prosecutors said an investigation began in Oct. 2018 after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip alleged that a twitter account was being used to share videos of suspected child pornography.

Upon investigation, authorities determined that Joel Aguilar Villanueva, 42, subscribed to the twitter account.

He was arrested on April 3, 2019.

A search warrant was executed at his apartment, where authorities said they found an external hard drive that contained suspected child pornography.

If convicted, Villanueva faces a maximum of 40 years in prison.
