ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A northern New Mexico family has endured multiple tragedies this year including, cancer and murder. Now, a deadly car crash claims the father.

Scott Quintanilla, 47, was killed in the crash that took place near Eagle’s Nest on Wednesday.

He spent the last year caring for his 13-year-old daughter, Ashley, who was diagnosed with cancer.

Shortly after the diagnoses, Ashley’s mother, April Browne, was murdered in a triple homicide in Dixon N.M. just outside of Taos.

“We all feel like we are in this nightmare that won’t go away,” Jessie McKeon, Browne’s sister said.

McKeon told KOB that she sympathizes for the family, especially for teen fighting cancer.

“I would think it would be hard to fight having lost so much. I mean I have days where I don't want to fight and I don't have cancer,” McKeon said.

The family and community are raising money to help with treatment for Ashley and other expenses.
