ROSWELL, N.M.- After talking with local businesses, the Economic Development Corporation in Roswell decided to bring businesses and potential employees together for one big hiring event.

Mike Espiritu, the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corporation president, said most businesses have a common problem right now.

“We continue to visit businesses in our county and we visit about 50 every month and that’s what we asked them how can we help them what are your concerns what are your needs and the number one, number one concern is we need people,” he said.

For people like Rachel Sarfatij, who just moved to New Mexico from the Netherlands, it’s a one-stop shop to see all open positions in the city.

“It’s good. People are really nice, people are really, really wanting to hire people, sell, I think, something could really come out of this, so I’m excited,” she said.

Business representatives say not only is this a good way to connect employees to potential employers, but it’s also a great way for the businesses themselves to be able to network.

It will stay open until 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

The economic corporation says if they see success, they will consider hosting a similar event in the future.
