LOS ALAMOS, N.M. - Another ski area is delaying its opening day for ski season due to a lack of wintry weather.

Pajarito Mountain officials say the mountain is seeing unseasonably warm temperatures and was originally set to open tomorrow.

"We’ve had to make the difficult decision to delay Pajarito’s opening, but we’re confident that we can open very soon.  The ski area has a great base, but we just need one more significant snow storm to open,” stated Tom Long, general manager of Pajarito Mountain.  “Our team is excited to kick off the ski season, and we’ll open the mountain as soon as conditions allow.”

Ski area officials say anyone with a Power Pass can still use it at other resorts in the meantime including Sipapu, Purgatory, Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, and Nordic Valley Ski Resort in Utah.

Earlier this week Sandia Ski Area decided to delay their opening until further notice in anticipation of some wintry weather in the coming weeks.
