ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce says he is introducing a new bill that will help thousands of young immigrants, specifically recipients of DACA.

The legislation is called the Preserving Opportunity for Childhood Arrivals Act, and it protects immigrants who were brought into the U.S. illegally as children from deportation.

Trump ordered the program to be phased out earlier this year.

Pearce says his new bill will allow current DACA recipients to stay in the country, as well as allow them to apply for green cards through the regular process.
