ROSWELL, N.M.- A call from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and beaten led to a sex trafficking investigation in Roswell.

Police say the events unfolded after 43-year-old Joseph Lucero contacted 41-year-old Lorena Beltran to meet at his house on Emerald Street.

Lucero's sister, 49-year-old Lisa Lucero, was at that house.

According to the criminal complaint, she confronted Beltran at gunpoint about her 20-year old daughter's whereabouts.

Tasha Ortega, Joseph Lucero's girlfriend, is accused of hitting Beltran in the head with a gun.

Police say an investigation led to threatening texts and Facebook messages that Beltran sent to Lucero's daughters.

Beltran is accused of trying to sell Lucero's daughter at the border in El Paso for sex so she could bail her son out of jail.

Roswell police arrested all four people last week and charged them with a long list of felonies, from kidnapping to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

They have since been released. No court date has been set.
