ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Records obtained by the Santa Fe New Mexican detail Thomas Ferguson's final moments in jail.

Ferguson was charged with the first-degree murder of Jeremiah Valencia.

The paper reports that Ferguson used a bed sheet to hang himself after apparently writing, "I died here," along with "Born 10-4-75, Died 11-26-17," on the wall of his jail cell.

The date of birth is Ferguson's, however, the date of death is the same day authorities believe Jeremiah was killed.

Since Ferguson's suicide, prosecutors have focused their case on his son, Jordan Nuñez. He's facing several charges in connection to Jeremiah's death.

Jeremiah's mother, Tracy Peña, entered into a plea deal, which requires her to testify against Nuñez.
