ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – There’s a possibility that Roswell International Air Center will have flights to Denver.

“We are beginning the process, and that’s the key point here. This is a long process to see about air service to Denver,” Said Dennis Kintigh, who is the mayor of Roswell.

Roswell Mayor Dennis Kintigh believes it’s great for the city, but a few things need to be looked at before any plans take flight.

“We have to be very deliberate in the thought of our analysis, and then we have to approach the air carrier. In this case, we expect it to be United, and convince them it will be a good deal,” Said Kintigh

The city of Roswell conducted a yearlong survey with 100 passengers per month who traveled through their airport. They wanted to see if there would be any interest in flights to Denver from Roswell.

“The data indicated that there is some interest in having a direct flight to Denver. Additionally, we are doing some market research in the Denver area as well,” Said Juanita Jennings, who is the Director of Public Affairs.

The airport is also considering expanding their terminal. Jennings believes continued expansion of their airport could be helpful for any airline.

“If you’re ever here for during the Dallas and Phoenix connection, it’s already a little snug here, especially once the new restaurant comes in,” Said Jennings.

If the plan comes into fruition, the mayor hopes it will take two years to complete.
