ROSWELL, N.M.- A woman in Roswell is having a hard time coping with the absence of her best friend.

Robbie’s chihuahua, Tater Tot, escaped through a hole in her backyard fence.

Tater Tot has gone missing before, but Robbie said she’s found him down the street, within an hour.

Robbie fears the worst. She said Tater Tot was supposed to have a procedure on his jaw, which has been broken for a year.

"He is due at any time for him to have the wire that was in his jaw that came loose to be removed,” she said. “I really want to get him home and make sure he's able to eat, and I can get him the treatment he needs."

Robbie said the wire may cause an infection, leaving Tater Tot with little to no chances of survival.
