They collected more than 1,100 gifts.

The advocacy group New Mexico Kids Matter will distribute the gifts to children in the foster care system in Bernalillo County.

“What Sandia Labs is doing is making that kid feel normal,” said Veronica Montano-Pilch, executive director for New Mexico Kids Matter.

Sandia National Laboratories employees have been donating gifts to children in foster care for 14 years.

“It's amazing to see the things that we can do that foster parents may not be able to do,” said Roberta Rivera, community relations specialist for Sandia National Laboratories.
