Through the tool, residents can apply for permits online and receive it immediately electronically.

“This new online open burning application process is progressive, sustainable, and more convenient for the residents of Santa Fe County,” said County Fire Marshal Jaome Blay.

Open burning is allowed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, but residents are required to call dispatch prior to burning to verify that there are no restrictions in place at that time.

The number for residents to call is 505-428-3730 or 1-800-742-1144. Residents in Chimayo need to call 505-351-4747.

Open burning of trash containing paper or household waste products is prohibited.

Residents who do not have internet access can head to Pojoaque Fire Station 1 in the northern region, the Fire Prevention Office in the western region, Edgewood Fire Station 1 in the southern region, and Hondo Fire Station 2 in the eastern region.

Questions? Call the Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division at 505-995-6523.
