SANTA FE, N.M. – It’s expected to be a packed house at tonight’s Santa Fe County Commission meeting. The hot topic on the agenda is a proposed Flying J Truck Stop.

Flying J has been attempting to build the truck stop on a 26-acre lot since last year.  The proposed site is on the south side of I-25 at the Cerrillos Road and NM-14 interchange.

Developers applied for a land-use application which was originally recommended for approval, but in March hundreds of people showed up to speak out against the plans and the county’s planning commission recommended the plans be denied.

Neighbors have said they feel it would be a “dangerous and dirty” development.

Tonight’s commission meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside Santa Fe High School’s gym.
