DURANGO, Colo. – Cars are being keyed by the dozen up in Durango and police are calling on the public for help.

According to the Durango Police Department, numerous calls have come in from residents reporting cars keyed with streaks and smiley faces. Authorities said that on Thursday alone, 14 smiley face-marked cars were reported at the parking lot of the Residence Inn on Highway 160.

Taking to Facebook, the police department is now asking anyone with information about these keyed cars to contact the department. While no exact number was given, police officials say information could lead to a substantial reward.

Residents aren't holding back with their frustration on social media, writing "not cool" and "what's wrong with people?" on DPD's post.

If anyone else discovers their car has been keyed, they are asked to contact police immediately and document the damage.
